LIVE UPDATES: Nora Aunor’s state necrological service and burial

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared today (April 22, 2025, Tuesday) as a “Day of National Mourning Over the Passing of Veteran Actress and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor.”
The Superstar’s remains have just been brought to the Metropolitan Theater in Manila for a state necrological service sponsored by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and will be brought to the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig for a full military honor and hero’s burial.
Proclamation No. 870 stated that “the national flag shall be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset, on all government buildings and installations throughout the Philippines and abroad” on Tuesday.

The proclamation was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on April 21 (Monday).

The life and legacy of Aunor were honored in a state necrological service at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila on the same day, before capping off with her funeral rites at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
On Monday evening, Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, former President Joseph Estrada and other personalities paid their last respects to Aunor.
The national artist died of acute respiratory failure on April 16 (Wednesday), according to her son Ian de Leon.
