A lot of airlines have made serious changes this year, with some of those changes affecting flights going to and from Orlando International Airport.

Southwest Airlines might have made the biggest change when it recently announced that it was ending its open-seat boarding policy. Some airlines have been adding nonstop flights to Orlando International Airport. However, some airlines have stopped flying to Orlando International Airport.

In 2024, the following routes have been cut from Orlando International Airport.

Avelo Airlines

  • Dubuque, Iowa
  • Kalamazoo, Michigan

Southwest

  • Bellingham International Airport
  • Cozumel International Airport
  • Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport
  • Syracuse Hanco*ck International Airport

Lynx Air

  • Toronto Pearson International Airport

Spirit Airlines

  • Raleigh- Durham

Frontier Airlines

  • Harrisburg International Airport in Middletown, PA

JetBlue

  • Salt Lake City, UT

Of course, these were all nonstop flights, so you may still be able to reach Orlando International Airport with some stops from these cities or by flying with other airlines. The good news is that new nonstop flights continue to get added — Orlando IS a very popular travel destination, after all.

  1. Leaving MCO on my last flight (July 13th, 2024)it took nearly 2 hours to get through TSA. My wife had arrived home after dropping me off curbside before I got to the gate, a drive of over 80 miles. Then on the return, after a 9 hour flight (July 30th) it took over 2 hours to get my bag (1 bag) and then get through immigration, I’m a US citizen. I thought Seattle was bad, but Orlando truly is the worse airport I’ve been through in recent years.

  10. I have been flying to Orlando from Chicago Midway for years but more frequently this last couple of years. It’s become somewhat of a nightmare…….TSA is agonizingly slow ( I’ve been in line upwards of an hour just to get screened) and once your screened it may be another 45-60 minutes to get thru the X-ray stuff. Also baggage claim is abominable!!!!! I think they’re trying but so far it’s the worst airport I’ve been thru!
